College admissions works best when everyone plays their part. The commitments below are what we ask of the student and the family — not as fine print, but as a shared foundation for the work ahead.

Student Commitments

  • Own the process. Your parents, counselors, and advisors are here to support you — but the work, the decisions, and the outcome belong to you.
  • Do the work. Some stretches will be demanding. Stress is manageable when you plan ahead and tackle things in reasonable pieces rather than all at once.
  • Be honest. With yourself, with your parents, and with us. The quality of our guidance depends on the quality of the information we have.
  • Speak up. If you feel unheard — by a parent, a counselor, or an advisor — say so directly, or ask a trusted adult to help you work through it.
  • Come prepared. Show up to meetings having completed any thinking or work agreed upon in advance.
  • Give us enough lead time. We'll always do our best to support you — but we can't guarantee our usual turnaround without adequate notice.
  • Trust the process. Admissions involves real uncertainty. Resist reactive decisions made out of anxiety or peer comparison. We'll give you the honest read.

Parent Commitments

  • Let the student lead. These are your student's applications — their voice, their decisions, their work. Your role is to support, not direct.
  • Share what we need to know. Give us relevant context upfront: financial parameters, geographic constraints, family preferences. The earlier we know, the better the plan.
  • Trust the candid assessment. If we tell you a school isn't a realistic target, that's not pessimism — it's planning. Honesty is the whole point.
  • Give us adequate notice. Communicate schedule constraints, new information, or shifting priorities with enough lead time for us to respond thoughtfully.
  • Channel communications through us. Avoid contacting colleges directly on your student's behalf without coordinating with the advising team first.

The student is our primary client. We advocate for their best interests — taking parents' input and guardrails seriously, while keeping the student's voice and wellbeing at the center of every decision.
